We have put together a file to help you properly prepare your digital signage project. Here is the program:

Digital signage is A communication tool allowing broadcast messages, in the form of multimedia content for an audience, more or less large, and more or less heterogeneous, in order to create a relationship With this one, or with him transmit information.
So, thanks to a powerful digital signage solution, a communicant can send content from their computer to the display system, which processes them and then broadcasts them on the broadcast screens.

Installing and commissioning such a tool can be a complex task., especially for the uninitiated, or non-technical staff. Indeed, a digital signage system generally consists of several elements, sometimes located on remote sites, whose interconnection must be ensured. In general, a display system consists of one or more screen (s), of one or more display player (s), of a server which stores user content and configuration, and finally The software (or platform) Of management that allows you to control the screens and the content. These elements need to communicate together in order for the system to function.

Whether you are looking for a replacement solution or need to equip yourself, one of the first questions concerns the model of the system to be installed.

The different system models

There are several models of digital signage systems, which differ, mainly in the network structure put in place for the communication of the equipment (also called network architecture). Many different architectures exist, however, it is possible to group them into 2 main ones, which give rise to 2 models of dynamic display system.

The model “hosted” (also called on-premise)

In this model, the digital signage system is fully installed on the internal network of the client company. The equipment communicate thus via the local network of the company and are isolated from the outside world, and in particular from the Internet. The management of screens and content is carried out via software installed on one or more computers on the company network. (sometimes also via an intranet).

The model “Software as a Service” (also called SaaS, or Cloud)

In this model, the digital signage system is partially installed in the client company. The display players are installed at the customer's premises. The servers are, on the other hand, hosted by the service provider. The equipment communicates with each other via the Internet. The management of screens and content is carried out via a management platform, accessible from the Internet.

The model “hybrid”

A third model, called “hybrid” proposes an alternative between these two models. It is based on the hosted model with the exception that some equipment can still communicate with the Internet.

Should we then opt for a SaaS solution, an on-premise solution or a hybrid solution?

The answer obviously depends on each case and each need and a single model could hardly satisfy all uses, as the uses are numerous and specific. However, the following series of articles will attempt to highlight their differences in order to guide you through this choice, sometimes complex, and often not without consequences.
