The Format of the Month: The “Guess What”

13/8/2019

Because we want to inspire you above all, this month we are offering you a new format that you can easily use with your employees. This format? We called it: the Guess What!

What is “Guess What”?

The concept is quite simple: in one or two minutes you test your knowledge on one of your colleagues. This format is mainly adapted to pairs. Each employee will, in turn, have to answer fairly simple questions about the other person, such as “What do they like best about you?” Of course, the answers given should not be known to the other person. Once the responses of each collaborator have been filmed, confront them and film their reaction. This way, you can see how well your colleagues know each other — or not.

Why is it a good video format to create with your collaborators?

By involving two interviewees, and by offering quirky questions, this format allows your employees to get to know each other better. Indeed, by asking your colleagues in turn about their knowledge of their partner, you create a link and show the relationships that your employees maintain.

As a result, this format makes it possible to effectively present the atmosphere reigning within your company. If your colleagues all know each other and share moments of laughter together, that speaks for itself. A new collaborator viewing these videos can then easily get an idea of the general atmosphere.

Why not adapt the questions in this format to make a video for recruiting new employees? After all, the atmosphere is one of the first criteria for choosing candidates.

How do you do a “Guess What”?

If you follow the procedure we are going to suggest, doing a Guess What will be very easy. First, as with every interview video, prepare your questions in advance. This is when you also choose the tone you want to give to your video. If you want to make offbeat and more personal videos, you will not necessarily ask questions about everyone's job.

“What annoys you the most about him/her?” or on the other hand, “What do you like best about him or her?” are good questions that represent the relationship between your colleagues. If you want to stay in a professional environment, you can also ask “the restaurant where he/she prefers to eat at noon?” , “the software he/she uses all the time” etc. In short, use your imagination to ask questions that adapt to the atmosphere of your business.

Then you must first film interviewee 1 and ask him all the questions you have determined. Once the shooting is over, do the same with interviewee 2 but asking the questions in the opposite direction. It's no longer “What do you like best about X?” but “What does X like best about you?” Of course, during these two moments of filming the two interviewees should not hear the answers given by the other.

Finally, do one last take but this time with your two interviewees. This time, ask them to compare their answers. By filming their reactions directly, your video will thus be authentic and certainly funny if the answers given are not the same on each side!

And, thanks to EasyMovie it is very easy to make these kinds of videos. All you have to do is use a very simple template composed of panels, questions to be defined according to the interviewees, and to film their answers, all in automatic.
