14/10/2018

Welcome to our new series of tutorials dedicated to the framework where we will talk about the different values of shots, the points of view and the rules to respect that will make your video a perfect, qualitative and professional video.

In this first episode, we saw the General plan. A very wide plan where it is possible to see an entire landscape, whether for buildings, valleys or a garden.

What is it for?

In movies, this plan is used for Start a movie, or introduce a location because it allows you to locate the action to follow. This framework is very explanatory, it offers a lot of details in a single shot and can deliver the context of the movie.
In the case of corporate videos, it's the same thing. It is important to locate the place where your interlocutors are located. This allows To authenticate and to contextualize the message to be conveyed. Showing the facade of your offices, the city, and other places that are part of your daily life is essential for viewers to enter your universe and surround you. If you are content with very tight plans or only show your speaker, you will certainly deliver your message, but your interlocutors will be in the dark about your conditions and your working environment. In addition, varying the plan values makes it possible to support certain sentences more than others. We will of course explain all this to you in the various plans that we are going to discuss.

How do you go about it?

A general plan is, as its name suggests, very general, it can be done at several scales. Show An entire city up to a single building, one cannot discern the action of men, it goes beyond. As soon as we see the action of a person more precisely we no longer speak of a general plan but of an overall plan, but we will save that for later.
This plan can therefore represent From a city to a building. It highlights the place before its inhabitants. In your case, filming this shot on a tripod so that it is fixed is its main and basic use.
You can also pan, i.e. rotate the camera to reveal even more about your environment. For this kind of plan, it is very useful to have a look back, but if your building is too big you can do a low angle to see the sky and make everything more aesthetic.

If you have been inspired by this general information, feel free to share your feedback and results with us. The next tutorial will focus on the overall plan and in the meantime you can always find out about the light for your videos or the various videos to be made within your company!
